Southern Yellow Pine – Pinus spp.
The sapwood of the Southern Yellow Pine has a yellowish white colour, while the heartwood is more reddish brown, orange, or yellow in colour. The fact that it is almost completely knotless and is one of the hardest pines and that makes it an ideal choice for flooring and is often chosen by designers because of its beauty and strength.
Southern Yellow Pine represents a less expensive, yet one of the most traditional flooring choices available. Yellow Pine is used for structural timber, structural grade plywood, building construction, boxes, baskets, crates, cooperage, pallets, millwork, woodenware, novelties, boat building and applications requiring hardness and good wearing qualities
